Alice is out of bed! She gets married and lives happily ever after, except…for her mother’s odious boyfriend, Louis Scifo. When Brenda Brody tries to break up with Louis, he plagues the entire family. I wrote this book, a domestic farce, before the word “stalker” was used to describe this kind of behavior, but that’s what Louis is, and the family barricades itself in the house in Westport while Louis besieges them until, finally, Alice takes charge and fights back. Birdwatchers take note: that is an orchard oriole on the cover, and one does get blown into Prospect Park in the novel.
