Cathleen:
I’m one of the “Weissmann” of Santiago de Chile and Curicó, also in Chile, Buenos Aires, Córdoba and San Juan, in Argentine, and of México D. F. and Cuernavaca, in México.
Your novels are beautiful, entertaining and well-written.
Instead of comparing you with Jane Austen, your commentators should return to check it to the pace and sense of Emile Zola’s prose, the Julio Cortazar’s intellectual keenness, or the prudence and nearness with the reader, of Henning Mankell,
for example.
Very thanks you.
I had no idea there were so many Weissmanns in South America! Nice to meet you!Now I will have to read Julio Cortazar, not to mention Zola…thank you so much!
I really enjoyed your book talk at the temple in Miami. It was interesting to hear about your background and where you get the ideas for your novels. I hope my husband, Brad Aiken, will meet an editor as supportive as yours. Thank you for offering to check out Brad’s website: bradaiken.com
Hi- I don’t have a comment on the web design, but I am pretty sure it is your article I read in Real Simple on napping. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t think I’ve eve e-mailed a stranger before, but your article meant just that much to me. I will no longer defend my naps as an unnecessary indulgence or even a guilty pleasure. They are a vital necessity that make me a better person and the world a better place. I think this article may have had more of an effect on world peace than you could have ever imagined.
Vital necessity and… art form. Thank you, fellow napper.
Are you by any chance related to my late dear friend Joan Schine of Westport?
Yes, Joan Schine was my cousin and a wonderful person.
Yes she was wonderful…. as well as smart, kind and courageous. She was a true and supportive friend, and I miss her.
I am reading The 3 W’s now. It’s terrific; thank you.
I’m reading The Three Weissmanns of Westport and I believe it is saving my life. How wonderful to discover a new writer who makes me feel like I’m listening to Bach and makes me laugh at the same time! Thank you. I am so glad that academia was too snobbish for you. Now they can just write critical essays about your work later!

Just wanted to say thank you for trekking out to Oklahoma and providing a great evening at Harweldon in the midst of a hail storm. While you didn’t get to fully experience the wind sweeping down the plains, it was at least a weather Hors d’oeuvre of sorts. I enjoyed the opportunity to hear you speak about the creation of the Three Weissmans, as well as your writing process.
(By way of memory jogger, you signed 2 books for me, as well as one for my daughter who lives in Wisconsin and is coming home for a visit next week. However, as an author who admits she can’t remember the ending of her own novels, this may be quite a leap.)
Hope your trip home was a safe one,
Janet
I loved Tulsa and the very dramatic hail, and that was one of the nicest gatherings I’ve been to on this promotional bookapaloozza, so it is I who thank you for being there and for buying so many books!
Boy, I have not looked at this blog in a long time because I am an idiot: here are all these nice comments! Thank you so much! This makes me very happy to hear, LaWanda!
