After losing my domain name (actually, I kind of misplaced it), I am back at cathleenschine.com feeling right at virtual home. Now here’s the thing regarding real home: we are going to move from New York to Venice, Ca. It may take a while, but that’s the plan. I’ve lived in New York for 35 years, so it’s a bit of a jolt even to think about leaving. I think I will write about the process of moving on this blog. Starting now.
The apartment is on the market as of today and we’re having an open house on Sunday and I am cleaning all the closets. Because I’ve moved three times in the past 10 years and had a fire, it’s not as bad as it could be, and not as sad as it could be. Leaving the apartment where the kids grew up, there were dirty words scribbled in crayon on the top shelf of the linen closet, which they used as a clubhouse. And they were all spelled wrong. Oh, I could cry even now, thinking about that baby graffiti. There’s nothing like that in the closets here. Just a lot of pairs of pants that no longer close around the waist.
I’m ba-ack…
