Sake and Taxes

by Cathleen Schine on April 18, 2007

I PAID MY TAXES TODAY, AND YOU PROBABLY DID, TOO…SO, ALLOW ME TO RECOMMEND Gekkeikan Black & Gold Sake. I AM NORMALLY NOT A BIG SAKE FAN, BUT AFTER THIS SMOOTH, DELICATE NECTAR WAS SERVED TO US BY WONDERFUL SOON-TO-BE COUSIN-IN-LAW NOAH A FEW MONTHS AGO, IT HAS BEEN ON MY MIND. AND YOU CAN AFFORD IT EVEN AFTER…TODAY.

Ohmygosh! I just had the accountant send an extension and I had to lie down for two hours. I should have thought of some medicinal spirits, but I didn’t. You are good to lead by example. I hope I remember this when I actually send in the return.

Unless I’m mistaken, this is a German sake. The name Gekkeikan is an updated, abbreviated version of its traditional name, Gekkeikan Oifen Yam. This sake has earthy, almost salty undertones that highlight its natural brightness.
